A Folding Partition (or Operable Wall) has been a mainsty in educational, institutional, religous, and civic facilities since the 1920's. A Folding Partition has become one of the most important aspects to effective space management in building design and use. A Folding Partition is usually much more expensive than an Accordion Partition, however, they can achieve excellent sound transmission results.

A Folding Partition can be both electric or manual, and has three style of panel layouts including, continuosly hinged, paired and individual panels. These partitions can be surfaced with almost any style of wall covering including laminate, carpet, vinyl and fabric. Options include pass doors, chalkboards, markerboards and tackboards.

A Folding Partition, like any piece of mechanical equipment also requires normal maintenance. The overhead tracks require lubrication and releveling at times. Trolley assemblies also require lubrication, vertical panels require alignment, floor seals need to be checked and of course the motors, drives, chains, clutches, and other electrical components need to be checked on regular basis.
